Community Outreach and Programs

Pratt's tradition of benefiting the local community began with Charles Pratt, who not only founded the Institute but also established Brooklyn's first public library on its campus. Today, as a leading art, design, and architecture school focused on the practical application of creative work and creativity itself, Pratt builds on this legacy by playing an increasingly active and influential role in the greater New York City area. Whether helping the region's coastal communities address the challenges of climate change, preparing local high school students to pursue careers in design, or providing free tutoring and art and design education programs to children and families, Pratt faculty and students are working to enhance the extended community every day.
